The soap aired on the CBS network from until When she went in for the part on Dallas, Victoria had already fallen in love with the show. So her feeling from the moment she read it was that it was incredibly special and that she really, really wanted to be a part of it. Victoria could not imagine not being Pam. She believed that Dallas would be a hit from the moment she read it. In fact, Victoria turned down a major role that would have conflicted with Dallas in the belief that she would be offered the role of Pam.
When she signed her Dallas contract, Victoria removed the clause that would have given the network the right to consent and also profit from her outside endeavors.
